ONBOARD CHEMICAL TANKER
We want to share our experience onboard chemical tanker. It was a great experience when we joined the chemical fleet of MISC and we want to share some of it.

During testing of tanks. Normally after tank cleaning we are testing our tank if it is free of salt and hydrocarbon. We will go inside the cargo tank and will take sample we call it wall washing. We use methanol and flush it into the bulkhead the sample will be drain and kept on a tube. These tube with methanol will be test according to our SMS.. |

Navigational watch turn to pictorial session! this is what we normally do whenever the captain is not around. |
|
The best part of being a seafarer! You can travel different places. At this moment we want to forget our life onboard. All of the stress was gone after shoreleave. |
|
Having a chance to have pics with great landmarks! |
|
This
is how chemical tanker looks like. Smoking is not allowed. MISC is very
strict about safety. From the gangway until you reach your cabin
everywhere you can see posts about safety. |

This is a toolbox meeting. During this meeting the chief officer will give the job to the crew and he will discuss about the hazards of the job and how to avoid this hazards. The chief officer also want to know about some issues onboard like safety, near misses or any incident that happened from the previous day. This meeting will be recorded on toolbox meeting checklist and normally the cadet will do it.
Being
a cadet is not easy, some people will pull you down but we should keep pushing
to reach our goal. This is a memorable time for both of us even though we don’t have
any responsibility onboard we still need to learn and do the job of the
officers. We learned how to do practical things and developed our
character which I think is the most important of all. Without proper discipline
and perseverance it is impossible for a cadet to succeed in his career. We also
want to thank our officers and crew who taught and guided us to become a
future officer and to become a future captain someday. Now we are ready to face
new challenges and to take the responsibility when we become officer in the
future.
