MY SECOND SHIP!
After spending almost 2 and a half months of holiday I was ready to join my second vessel, 'SS Tenaga Lima' from Bintulu, Malaysia as a senior deck cadet. As I was from the chemical tanker so I knew that this was going to be a new experience for me. Complying with the Bintulu port regulations, I joined the vessel wearing MISC white coverall and proper PPE. After stepping onboard I went to report to Captain followed by Chief Officer for which I had to search for Cargo Control Room (CCR) and which was surprisingly at the midship of the vessel. I was asked to take rest and report on the following day, lucky me.

The following day I reported in the Chief mate's office and he asked me to follow 2/O for ship familiarization. Things were new and I started with penning everything down in my notepad. After familiarization, 2/O taught me basics about the LNG cargo operation which was quite easier than I thought. After that I followed 2/O for gas reading of IBS which was going to be my daily task on my second vessel. After a week of day work under 2/O and paper work under C/O, I was asked to do full bridge watch from 0800-1200 hrs and 2000-2400 hrs along with 3/O. During watches, I started doing my assignments as I wanted to complete them as soon as possible.

On board, the moment you think that you are capable of handling things now that's when something happens that drags you down to your level and make you realize that there is still way to go and that is what was exactly happening at that time, the pressure of responsibility as I was on my second ship and expected to perform in every task assigned but I had my shortcomings in few areas and that's what I needed to work on. Just after two voyage, Tenaga Lima was at anchorage to prepare for drydock. Anchorage began something like this:-
Organizing events for New Year's Eve.
Blindfold golfing.
This was fun!
Beer Pong prototype sober version.
Top Four! (They always have some work to discuss.)
Kabayan, my basketball mates onboard.
Ready for bingo after a good meal.
Bingo time!
Basketball shootout!
Engine Vs. Deck
Futsal!
Tug of War!
After we prepared for dry dock, we got to know that the drydock has been canceled and Tenaga Lima will be laying up. Lay up operation was quite as hectic as dry dock and especially on LNG where we have meeting for almost everything which is good also to some extend. We started preparing for Lay up which comprised of various operation like inerting and for which chief mate gave briefing to all deck officer and asked to read about it for the smooth operation. After gas freeing, aerating and IGG operation, we went to Sembcorp Shipyard, Singapore for inerting operation.
