My top 3 places to retire in Malaysia
These are my top 3 places to retire in Malaysia.
As we all grow old and fatigue kicks in, we just want to retire in a place we're comfortable in. There are three places I have in mind that I want to retire to. The three places are Ipoh, Penang and Alor Setar. There are a few reasons or why I have pick these three places. Lets begin with Alor Setar.
Alor Setar
Alor Setar is located way up north in Peninsular Malaysia. Its basically about an hour to the border of Thailand. The main reason why I chose this place is because my lovely girlfriend works and lives there. I have fallen with this place because of its serenity and greenery. Plenty of paddy fields to be seen along the road sides and it just gives that 'kampung' feeling which I have long for it. Another reason why I chose this place is also because I lived in Kangar, Perlis which was about less than an hours drive from Alor Setar. I like that the traffic is not so heavy and roads are not so congested with cars. Food is good as there are plenty of local dishes to be tried out, Weekend getaways are good as Thailand is only an hour plus away and there are alot to visit and eat over there. Overall I would rate Alor Setar a 7 out of 10 for a place to retire.

Penang
Penang is synonym for a place that never sleeps, it's basically a mini Kuala Lumpur to me. It's an island located on the west side of Peninsular Malaysia. Penang is very populated as its a hub for business and a very strategic port for ships. The reason why I chose Penang is because it has basically everything and has good potential to raise my kids there. Education is amazing as there are many international schools and reputable institutes. Not forgetting, Penang is voted top 10 best food in the world. It is basically a food haven here for food lovers. I would not mind settling down here in the near future. Overall I would rate Penang a 9 out of 10 for a place to retire.

Ipoh
Ipoh is basiscally my favourite place to settle down and retire. It's a flat ground area scattered with shops and historical places. Population there is average and not much traffic except during peak hours. My father is from Ipoh and I have spend some time there during my younger days. People are friendly and there are loads of good places to eat there. Ipoh was also voted one of the top 10 cities to to retire in Malaysia. I would love to raise my family here and grow old with my loved ones. Overall I would rate Ipoh the best place to retire in Malaysia.
